Al Staggs brings to the stage the life of one of the great heroes of the twentieth century.  The audience is brought into the prison cell where Bonhoeffer awaits execution and listens to his struggles with evil, injustice and God.  In addition to performing his original play, Al also enjoys lecturing audiences concerning the importance of Bonhoeffers life and theology for the issues of our time.

"You...accomplish...an astonishing fullness of Dietrich, the personality and the message."

Eberhard Bethge
Bonhoeffers Biographer

"I wish every church, college and seminary group could have the privilege of witnessing that play."
Charles C. Anderson, Professor
Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas

Clarence Jordan and the God Movement

Jordan is best known as founder of Koininia Farm near Americus, Georgia and as translator of the Cotton Patch Version of the New Testament.  Along with Millard Fuller he co-founded the Fund for Humanity which later became Habitat for Humanity.  Jordan's life and ministry were a contemporary demonstration of a radical commitment to follow the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount.

"I want to thank you for your outstanding performance here at Habitat for Humanity International headquarters. You did a superb job of impersonating Clarence Jordan.  Indeed, I can not imagine you doing a better job of impersonating that great man of God.

One of the best indications of how well you did was the reaction of the Jordan family including his three living children. They were astounded at your magnificent portrayal of their father."

Millard Fuller, Founder & President,
The Fuller Center for Housing and Founder,
Habitat for Humanity International

"Al, I just wanted to thank you on behalf of the entire 'Jordan Clan' for a performance that captured the essence of daddy!  Your cadence, your inflection, your mannerisms, and humor were so real, it was hard not to think back 30 years ago, when we would sit and listen to daddy speak.  Both performances were outstanding!"

The Gospel According to Walter Rauschenbusch

His message concerning the Kingdom of God is particularly relevant to the church's challenges for the twenty-first century.  To what extent should the church address economic need?  What is the nature of the church's vocation in respect to systemic economic injustice. What is the theological basis for the church's mission to the poor and needy of our society?  These are the kind of questions Rauschenbusch confronted at the turn of the century.   His conclusions have profound significance for contemporary Christianity.

Laughter for Life

With the help of more than forty impressions and characterizations, Al demonstrates the importance of humor for spiritual, emotional and physical health.  Robin Williams, Ernest P. Worrell, John Lovitz, Redd Foxx, Willie Nelson, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Jesse Helms are among the notables who Al brings to a banquet, comedy club, chapel or assembly.

"Rev. Staggs performance was executed with a great deal of talent along with a large dose of warmth."

The Rev. VickieAnn Johanson
Chaplain, Newberry College, Newberry, South Carolina

Sermon on the Mount

The greatest sermon ever delivered is presented in a conversational, understated manner as though the words are being spoken for the first time.  In addition, Al presents other scriptural passages for chapel or assembly.

Oscar Romero: A Martyr's Homily

Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador was assassinated on March 24, 1980, while celebrating Mass.  Romero was killed as a result of his courageous and prophetic preaching and his involvement in human rights and justice issues in El Salvador.  As a result of his stand for justice, he became a martyr for all people struggling to overcome poverty and oppression.

"Staggs played Romero well, and moved this university audience deeply.  Al Staggs has that uncanny blend of being a true pastor of God's flock, and a powerful interpreter of God's message.  I highly recommend his presentations to...audiences in North America."

Fr. Thomas Rosica, C.S.B.,
Executive Director & Pastor
Newman Centre Catholic Mission
at the University of Toronto

"I was in the audience for your Romero presentation, and wish to say how much I enjoyed, and more importantly, was moved by it.  I don't know which moved me most, your restrained, almost liturgical, monologue; or your reflections afterwards.  Bless you in your ministry."

Richard Macdonald, SJ
North York, Ontario, Canada

"Recently I had the pleasure of witnessing a performance by Al Staggs acting in the role of Archbishop Oscar A. Romero.  I am writing to recommend this work to anyone who has the opportunity to sponsor or see it.  I do so without hesitation.  Having previously witnessed Al's superlative performance of the witness of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, I was certain that this would be an exceptional presentation.  None of us were disappointed.

I heartily endorse this work as suitable for consideration by all audiences (smaller children excepted) and certainly recommend this work for Catholic audiences and congregations.  I am very devoted to the memory and the life of  Oscar Romero, and I think that Al Staggs certainly does justice to his memory and the power of his witness for justice. "

(Rev. Msgr.) Michael D. McCarron Pastor, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Newport News, Virginia
